What's Your Dream?

Following your dreams and...integrating the Tenets of Taekwondo and living a Black Belt Life...can make them happen. Look at me...!

Monday we celebrate an American hero...a visionary...Martin Luther King, Jr., his legacy, and the 50th anniversary of his “I have a dream’ speech. He had many dreams...ALL men are created equal, we are ONE community, and freedom and justice reign....

What are your dreams...your stretch goals? How do you turn your dreams and goals into reality?

First, YOU need to take responsibility for your own life. YOU need to take control of how you think and act. And here is where the importance of setting goals can help you grow.

I’m talking about stretch goals, goals that you've never done before. These are your fantasies, dreams, bucket list items...

To begin, think about your goals and write them down. Why write them down? Because now your goals are tangible, you can pick up that piece of paper and feel it, read the words, and read your goals out loud...every day. How and what YOU think will manifests itself as a "truth."

“Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t...you’re right.” - Henry Ford

You are now on the road to thinking in a powerful new way to find your purpose in life.

Does this really work?

Yes, I have seen it time and time again, working with students and in my own life. Taekwondo has taught me and my students the importance of setting goals, focusing on those goals, developing confidence in our skills, learning perseverance and the ability to overcome challenges, and then seeing positive results after putting thoughts into action.

You see, my dream was to have my very own building for my Martial Arts school. And several years ago I made that dream come true, through lots of hard work, perseverance, focus, and creativity. I ran into obstacle after obstacle. But each time I conquered a challenge I came away smiling, feeling confident that I could overcome any obstacle put in front of me.

So when you have a dream, you will do whatever it takes to make it happen. And if you’d like to read about my challenge, you’ll want to read Chapter 8: Perseverance, in my book “It’s Not About the Belt...

What’s Your Dream? You can make it happen...I did!
