Bring Your Computer to Red Barn Bakery's Kick Off Ceremony Tonight

The Red Barn Bakery in Irvington is launching a fundraising campaign tonight and will sustain its participants with frittatas and other bakery treats as they spread the word on Facebook and/or with emails. Fans of the bakery are invited to stop by from 7 to 9 p.m. with their laptops to help contact donors for pledges and potential purchasers for baked goods.

The goal is to raise $26,000 in 30 days to purchase a dishwasher, a third oven, a much larger commercial mixer and a dough sheeter.

"The bakery is barely three years old, but it's grown so fast," said founder Randell Dodge, who started baking when she was 12.

"Right now we just don't have enough oven space and my bakers have to hand wash everything and roll pie crust and biscotti by hand," she said. "With additional equipment we'll save time, cut labor costs and increase our productivity."

The packages that can be ordered include a monthly "Breakfast Cookie" gift box, considered ideal for shipping to college students.

The campaign is being assisted by an organization called Kickstarter.
