An Art Exhibit, Including the Work of Two Local Artists, Opens at The Black Cat Cafe in Irvington

A new art exhibit featuring the work of six artists, including two local residents, has opened at the Black Cat Cafe on Main Street in Irvington. Oils, water colors, pencil drawings and acrylic paintings are available, most of which have been provided by an online art gallery called Nordic Artwork.  All pieces appearing on the walls at the Black Cat Cafe are for sale starting at $1,600.

Artists Zoë Denahy and Selene Smerling, whose work is in the collection, reside in Irvington as does Kirsten Wildfang, Nordic Artwork online gallery director, who grew up in Denmark.

The work of Martin Eggert, Gerda Louise Buchgraitz, Christina Kjelsmark and Judith Wine is also featured.

The items offered for sale will be replaced every two months however new pieces will be substituted for any work that is sold along the way.

"Time to Make Peace," (pictured above) is the work of Polish-born artist Janusz Tyrpak. Measuring 48 by 40 inches, it is priced at $4,000.

"Northern Seas" landscapes available from Nordic Artwork can also be viewed at the library in Irvington until the end of March, 2014; additional art provided by the online gallery can be seen at the Danish Consulate in New York City.
