Red Barn Bakery Pledges Reach One-Third of Goal; Rewards Include Dessert Parties

Nearly one-third of the funds the Red Barn Bakery in Irvington needs to buy new baking equipment have been raised thus far. With 17 days of the 30-day campaign to go, 71 backers have pledged $8,235; the goal is $26,000,

The terms of the Kickstarter-managed fundraising campaign call for voiding of the pledges if the goal is not reached within a 30-day period.

The funds, Red Barn Bakery owner Randell Dodge said, are intended for purchase of four pieces of equipment: a commercial mixer, a dishwasher, a third oven and a dough sheeter. The Kickstarter funds also cover costs of installation and reconfiguring of the kitchen.

Rewards increase in value from $15 to a top offer of a new cookie named after the donor at $2,500. A dessert party, including an array of baked goods, fresh fruit and coffee or tea, starts at $1,200 if held at the bakery or $1,500 if held in a private home.

Pledges can be placed at www.kickstartthecookie.com.
