Applying the Law of Attraction

Law of Attraction, a universal principle that says you attract into your life the people and things you most often think about or more simply, your thoughts create your reality.

Unless you have been living in a cave, you have surely heard about the book and the movie with the same name, The Secret. The secret behind The Secret is the Law of Attraction, a universal principle that says you attract into your life the people and things you most often think about or more simply, your thoughts create your reality.

What you attract into your life is based on what you give the most attention to!

Said a different way, the Law of Attraction states “like attracts like.” Whatever you focus on in your life will be exactly what you draw to yourself. So, if all you think about are your bills, debt, poverty, ill health and want, what you attract is more bills, debt, poverty, ill health and want.

If on the other hand, you focus on abundance, prosperity, good friends, good health and a happy and fulfilling life filled with all you desire, those positive thoughts will draw those things to you.

Now, is it just that simple or is there more to it than that? Well, first of all – you have to visualize what you want – a promotion at work, a better job, a nicer home, good health, more money, the perfect partner, a luxury car – you need to see clearly in your mind whatever it is that you want in your life.

Next, you have to feel - really feel - in your heart what it would be like to have these things that you want. Finally, you have to believe that you will get them. This involves conscious awareness of your thoughts and what you’re giving your attention to.

There is no magic here, and things that you want don’t necessarily appear out of nowhere. But often, the means to achieve what you want, a better job for instance, will come as the result of a chance meeting with a stranger.

The Law of Attraction is a skill that you can learn and perfect – just like any other skill. Some people have found that creating a scrapbook, filled with pictures, ideas and sayings of things they want to manifest is helpful. Others wear an elastic band on their wrists that they flick when they notice that they are thinking negative, rather than positive, thoughts.

Start thinking positive thoughts and creating positive images in your mind’s eye and discover for yourself what the Law of Attraction is really all about!

A big part of the problem is that the teachers' expectations about what supplies are necessary haveRead More become so extreme. When my kids were in school in Tarrytown, we would get a list at the beginning of every school year of the supplies we needed to buy. The parents were asked to buy a separate looseleaf binder for every single class our kids were taking and, for some classes, they asked for a looseleaf AND a spiral notebook. When I was in school, each kid had ONE looseleaf and we separated classes with dividers. Having SIX or seven loose leafs adds to backpack weight and costs a lot of money. My kids supply bills were often close to $100 apiece. The teachers have bought into this idea that all of these supplies are necessary and they are not. I'm not surprised that Staples is offering "rewards programs." Their advertising and marketing efforts have convinced the teachers that you must have a package of 12 red correcting pens, per child.
