Patch Inspires Local Business Owner's Pup’s Name

Randell Dodge, owner of Red Barn Bakery in Irvington, has named her new Australian Cattle Dog after the website.

Randell Dodge adores her new 5-week-old Australian Cattle Dog and his patchy coat of black, grey, white and brown. However, the pup’s markings wasn't the initial reason for naming him “Patch.”

The owner of Red Barn Bakery in Irvington, which uses local and organic ingredients, wanted to pay homage to the first media outlet to cover the opening of S. Astor Street bakery two years ago.

Read that story in Rivertowns Patch here.

Dodge’s baked goods are now distributed widely, including Whole Foods and Stone Barns Center. Before becoming a baker, Randell was a fashion designer and model for Givenchy and a designer for Ralph Lauren.

“Patch” is the second canine addition to Dodge’s home, as she currently has another cattle dog named Tashi.
