Serve and Remember 9/11: Volunteer at Yorktown Grange Fair
Volunteers are needed to help at the Yorktown Grange Fair, the only country fair in Westchester County. This is a great opportunity for teens 13 and older to earn community service hours.
Livestock Assistant on Sunday, Sept. 8th, 2:30-5:30pm--8 volunteers needed
Volunteers will be working with an experienced volunteer to help clean the stalls, walk the animals and other tasks that take care of the animals.
**You MUST also volunteer on Saturday, August 31st, 9am - 2pm (lunch included) in order to assist with the animals on the 8th. You will get familiar with the fair grounds and learn the basics of animal care.
Fair Breakdown Assistance on Sunday, Sept. 8th, 6-10pm--4-8 volunteers needed
Volunteers will assist Grange members at the conclusion of the fair. This involves assisting with the breakdown of tables, garbage collection, and other clean up tasks. This can include the breakdown of livestock cages and pens.
Contest Table Overseers, Saturday, Sept. 7th and Sunday, Sept. 8th--2 volunteers per shift
Volunteers will assist Grange Leaders for various contests tied to historical American agricultural areas (ex. baking, needlepoint, photo, etc.). Overseers will walk through the hall, making sure people are not touching the tables.
1st shift each day: 12-3pm
2nd shift each day: 3-6pm
3rd shift each day: 6-9pm
Pie Table Assistance, Saturday, Sept. 7th and Sunday, Sept. 8th--1 volunteer per shift
Volunteer will help Grange Leader sell pies at the pie table.
