Emerson String Quartet to Perform During 60th Season of Friends of Music Concerts

The Emerson String Quartet, recognized as one of the world's foremost chamber ensembles, will be a highlight of Friends of Music Concerts' 60th season, performing on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at 8 p.m. in Kusel Auditorium at Sleepy Hollow High School.

The Emerson String Quartet makes its 13th appearance on the Friends of Music stage with a program that includes Mendelssohn: String Quartet in F minor, op. 80; Shostacovich: String Quartet No. 14, op. 142; and Beethoven: String Quartet in F Major, op. 59, No. 1 ("Rasumovsky").

The Emerson stands alone in the history of string quartets with an unparalleled list of achievements over three decades: more than thirty acclaimed recordings produced with Deutsche Grammophon since 1987, nine Grammy Awards, including two for Best Classical Album, an unprecedented honor for a chamber music group. Members of the quartet include violinists Eugene Drucker and Philip Set zer, violist Lawrence Dutton, and cellist Paul Watkins, who joined the group recently. www.emersonquartet.com.

The remainder of Friends of Music Concerts' 60th season includes The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center on November 2nd, performing works of Dvorak, Schumann, and Brahms; violinist Paul Huang with piano collaborator Jessica Osborne, on April 12, 2014; A Schubertiade, amn evening on April 26, 2014 devoted to the works of Franz Schubert that will include his beloved "Trout" Piano Quintet; and the renowned St. Lawrence String Quartet, performing works by Haydn, Bartock, and Beethoven on May 10, 2014.

Subscriptions to the entire 60th Anniversary season are $120 for adults,$60 for students. Tickets for individual concerts are $30 for adults and $15 for students.
