Driving Down Main Street in Elmsford Scares the Heck Out of Me!

I live in the Avalon Green apartments off of Taxter Rd.  To get to a lot of places I have to drive through Elmsford.  The traffic on Main Street scares the heck out of me!  From the Eldorado Diner to the Burger King I am saying my prayers.  I have lived here less than a year and have avoided many accidents in that little stretch of road.  It's insanity.  People pull out and just stop, pull out in front of you.. people randomly walk across the street (most of the time not even in a crosswalk...) I hate it!  I try to avoid it if I can- I just wonder why is it so chaotic.  I know the post office is there and a CVS and some other small businesses- It's just insanity for no reason.  Does anyone else feel like this or have experienced crazy driving on Main St. in Elmsford?
