Book Raffle to Benefit Community Food Pantry

Whimsies Incognito is raffling a selection of 17 special, mostly autographed, books to benefit their noble neighbor, the Food Pantry of Sleepy Hollow and Tarrytown.

The following comes to us from Whimsies' owner Jacqueleen Golabek:

Whimsies Incognito is holding a charity raffle to benefit our neighbor, the Community Food Pantry of Sleepy Hollow and Tarrytown. The raffle items are a selection of 17 books geared toward a variety of readers. Most of the books are autographed by the author or illustrator and the rest are advanced reader galleys of books not yet published.

Because the titles are so varied this will be a “you-pick” style raffle. Tickets are only $1 each and each ticket is for a chance at one title only. That way you won’t end up with a book you don’t want.

Book titles include children’s picture books like Goodnight, Goodnight, Construction Site by Sherri Duskey Rinker and illustrated by Tom Lichtenheld, and the award-winning I Want My Hat Back by Jon Klassen. There are also cookbooks like New York City Farmer & Feast by Emily Brooks, and The Naked Foods Cookbook by Margaret Floyd and James Barry.

Also included is a memoir by Andre Dubus III, author of House Of Sand and Fog, called Townie. Two outstanding but unsigned advance reader galleys include the ninth epic novel by Dav Pilkey called Captain Underpants and the Terrifying Return of Tippy Tinkletrousers, and the first book by Glee star Chris Colfer called The Land of Stories.

To see all the books in person please visit at 35 South Broadway in Tarrytown. The store is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.

Tickets will be sold for $1 each starting on now and the drawings for each book will be held during Tarrytown 3rd Friday at 7 p.m. on July 20th.
