Jay Strong's Work Continues with Fundraiser

The symbol (<) when paired with the number three (3) forms something of a sideways heart <3 and has become the online shorthand for breast cancer awareness. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and there's one very special, if sadly timely, event happening this weekend in Sleepy Hollow.

Organizers want friends of from cancer, to know the fundraiser planned at J.P. Doyle’s Beer Garden on Oct. 6 from 4 to 8 p.m. is still on and Strong. Ho was known to her friends and family as "Jay" and she has also come to be called "Jay Strong."

All money raised from the Jay Strong...Believe <3 event will be donated to the ongoing cancer research of Dr. Abraham Mittleman's research team. 

“We are all deeply saddened by the loss of such an amazing person and will miss her everyday," said Ho's good friend Terri Fehn-Rohan, in the Facebook invite. "But we also know that Jay would want us all to be strong and continue to live, laugh, and love. So we plan to gather and celebrate the life and spirit of Jeannette and continue her mission to fight this disease.”

Ho's sister Grace Ho wanted to also express her gratitude to the bar owners. "J.P. Doyle's owners, Brian Doyle and Nick Bell, have been continuous supporters and friends to her during her entire battle with cancer," Grace said. "It doesn't suprise me that they're being honored as community leaders who keep giving back and then some."

Grace added that everyone is welcome to this fundraiser, whether they knew Jeannette or not. It's all for a good cause and continuing the work Jeannette did in her life. "The more the better in attendance for all!"
