A 7-1/2-hour-long traffic safety check, held on Route 9 in Irvington on April 3, 2014 by the Village of Irvington Police Department, resulted in 50 summonses being issued. A license plate reader was used at the checkpoint.
Drivers were ticketed for violations of New York State vehicle and traffic laws, environmental conservation law, tax law and transportation law.
More than 3600 vehicles passed through the checkpoint during the inspection period. Truck inspections were conducted in the Immaculate Conception Church parking lot.

The activity included:
- Four misdemeanor arrests for operating vehicles with registrations that were suspended or revoked
- One driver was caught for driving without a license
- Three penal law violators were arrested
- Twenty-one home improvement contractors were checked and three were given summonses for operating without a home improvement license
- Four vehicles were impounded
- Six trucks were temporarily taken out of service because of defective equipment. Replacement or repairs took place on the site.
The Irvington Police Department acted in cooperation with the New York State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit, the Westchester County Solid Waste Commission, the Westchester County Department of Consumer Affairs and the New York State Department of Transportation.
