The 2nd Annual Photo Shoot with Ricky Restiano

Monday January 7th 2013 was certainly a photo shoot like never before. "One of the most unique photo shoots in advertising history.”

I am a tad embarrassed it has taken one week to Blog about one of the biggest days of my Career thus far. Monday January 7th 2013 was certainly a photo shoot like never before. I believe it has and will continue to surpass vendor and consumer expectations and “make history” each year more so than the previous. The press release described the photo shoot as, “one of the most unique photo shoots in advertising history.”

The day unfolded seamlessly. What I have learned throughout the years is that if all the proper “foot work,” planning, organizing and most importantly team work is done in advance an event or in this case photo shoot will inevitably be executed perfectly.

The JKFlashy & Salon Posh Styling Teams arrived by 5am and did each other’s hair and makeup.  Diane, Owner of Salon Posh and I arrived just as, well-known MC Alex of Jimmy Dee Music Productions was setting up an amazing DJ Stage with TV’s and Lighting.  Monica from Monica Chimes Floral, Inc. and staff began the set up of a very large and intricate Huppah.  Dave, one of the Managing Partners of La Renaissance began his lush set up of mouth watering desserts ranging from pastries to beautifully decorated Wedding Cakes.  Meanwhile, Michelle from Westchester Burger & Graziella’s ran food from the oven to the designated “Model Lounge Area” for models to eat while waiting their turn for hair and makeup.  Fontana Couture of Greenwich Connecticut rolled thousands of dollars worth of couture gowns through the Hudson Harbor Club House in Tarrytown; home to Westchester Magazines Dream Home.  I am fortunate that my very own Mom saved the day after an Assistant cancelled and agreed to “dress” the hand picked models.

Time flew and before I knew it, it was nearly 9:30am, all hair and makeup stylists took a brief break to make sure they looked “camera ready” because Ricky Restiano and his talented team were on their way to make their big entrance.

Michelle from Westchester Burger & Graziella’s began an appetizing lunch spread, while Silverstar Limousine’s drivers pulled up the driveway with the first hot pink Mini Cooper S Limousine built in the United States (10% of proceeds donated to Breast Cancer Organizations); as if that was not enough, a 1963 Silver Rolls Royce Silver Cloud III, New York’s only antique Silver Rolls Royce followed the Mini Cooper.  Channel 12 News came in and I believe the Reporter was speechless.  The delivery right behind Silverstar Limousine was quite breath taking.  Jerry Iodice, owner of 2 beautiful, show casing Pinto Quarter Horses parked his trailer.  Although this Blog may seem like there was a 3-ring circus, the day unfolded quite the opposite.  Nadia, our Day of Coordinator checked people in and maintained a level of organization.

In addition, to Ricky Restiano and his talented crew, Paul from Strictly Video took care of documenting the entire day and all of its awesomeness.  Huge shout out to Salon Posh and the JKFlashy team for styling until nearly 3pm.  Ricky and his staff took photos until almost 6pm.  This was a day that truly exemplified dedication and perseverance while talent sparkled and shined.

Now for the big question...when can you see these AMAZING PHOTOS???  We have made photos from this shoot exclusive to Westchester Magazine’s Bridal Show, Unveiled.  Unveiled will be held at the VIP Country Club on Thursday February 7th 2013.  For more details please see: http://www.westchestermagazine.com/Westchester-Magazine/Signature-Events/Unveiled-Bridal-Event-Form-2013/.

A big part of the problem is that the teachers' expectations about what supplies are necessary haveRead More become so extreme. When my kids were in school in Tarrytown, we would get a list at the beginning of every school year of the supplies we needed to buy. The parents were asked to buy a separate looseleaf binder for every single class our kids were taking and, for some classes, they asked for a looseleaf AND a spiral notebook. When I was in school, each kid had ONE looseleaf and we separated classes with dividers. Having SIX or seven loose leafs adds to backpack weight and costs a lot of money. My kids supply bills were often close to $100 apiece. The teachers have bought into this idea that all of these supplies are necessary and they are not. I'm not surprised that Staples is offering "rewards programs." Their advertising and marketing efforts have convinced the teachers that you must have a package of 12 red correcting pens, per child.
