I am hoping the heading of this Blog stops every reader and that you read past this sentence. The typical makeup artist stereotype is an attractive girl in heels, snapping her gum and using the word “like” in every statement that comes out of her full glossy lips. Guess what? As your Beauty Expert that stereotype is far from reality. I want to share with my readers and fans my experience of a specific charity I have been a part of since I was 16 years old. The Team of JKFlashy Luxury Makeup Artists creates a much more beautiful “picture” of a Makeup Artist, that which is brains & beauty on an intrinsic level. I was an intern part of high school and throughout my college years for a company called Goodrich, located in Danbury Connecticut. Every year I would contribute to an amazing charity that Goodrich offered to all of its employees. The program is called United Way's “Back to School,” and Goodrich Employees have the opportunity to sponsor a child. Sponsoring a child includes buying all of a child’s back to school needs. Goodrich always provides a generous gift card to go along with the back pack donation. Fifteen years later I continue to sponsor a child every year. I love it, look forward to it and consider it a joy of being able to give to those who really need it. This year, I challenged my team to sponsor a child with me. To my surprise we sponsored 10 children and consistent to every past year Goodrich provided a gift card for every child we sponsored.
