Can you still be Flashy when your Pregnant?

What an interesting topic to blog about, if I do say so myself!  I learned alot as I researched to what degree a woman’s cosmetic wardrobe must be altered when she conceives a child.

Your pregnant or thinking about pregnancy, Congrats! Lets talk about your skincare regiment first and foremost as some topical ingredients penetrate the bloodstream and there are some key ingredients you would want to avoid once you conceive.

For all my oily Flashy Fans that love, Salicylic acid...Please “Stay Away” from this skincare product / ingredient.  A mild acid is used to treat certain skin disorders, including acne, and may be found in a number of skin care products, such as cleansers and toners. According to BabyCenter, salicylic acid can penetrate facial oils to get deep into pores and clean out dead skin cells. Salicylic acid is in the aspirin family, so it can also help reduce inflammation or redness. BHA, or beta hydroxy acid, is a form of salicylic acid and is used in some topical exfoliants to reverse signs of aging.  High doses of the acid in its oral form have been shown in studies to cause birth defects and various pregnancy complications.

For all my Botox / Injectable / Anti aging Flashy Fans...seriously take a break!  A nine to ten month break to be exact!  Some studies have shown that high doses of vitamin A while pregnant may be harmful to an unborn child.  In addition, oral retinoids, such as isotretinoin (Accutane, an acne treatment), are known to cause birth defects.

As for makeup...ladies avoid makeup with both of the above ingredients!!  It’s best to indulge in the mineral craze happening right now!  Mineral only products are made up of ingredients that primarily sit on top of the skin and don't cause irritation for most people.

To conclude this Educational Health & Beauty Blog, ladies, please check with your Physician if you are unsure or have any questions about Skincare & Cosmetic Products.  The safest cosmetic choice would be products that are mineral based during your pregnancy.  Enjoy your journey of being pregnant and the natural glow you will experience and stay Flashy!
