Flashy Gratitude

When I was just out of college I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life...I am sure many at this age can identify with that feeling.  Today I am grateful for youth, innocence and the ignorance & naiveness that accompanies both.  While working full time as an Administrative Assistant & attending Graduate school in the evening, I accepted a part time job at a Makeup Counter.  I remember being indifferent to a very dramatic & chaotic schedule working 2 jobs and attending Graduate school caused my young life.  I will never forget the day I made one of the easiest, most natural decisions I have ever made in my life. I made the transition from Part time to Full time at the Makeup Counter. I chose to cease my Administrative Assistant job & Graduate school.  I recall like it was yesterday my parent’s reaction.  It wasn’t good.  I remember my Dad being so confused; I had just earned a Business degree from Pace University & now I wanted to begin a career doing makeup?! 

Being young, and possessing an equal balance of ignorance & naiveness I didn’t ever think of “what could go wrong.”  All I could think was, “this is a dream!”  I loved doing makeup and loved helping people.  That happiness and spark that nurtured a creative side of me grew over the years...it multiplied and is equivalent to spreading wild fire.  This journey is one I would not have traded anything for.  Every moment could be perceived as a failure or as a learning lesson that would attribute to success at some point in time.  I have created every moment to be one that I took something from and either shared with others or designed into success through the years.  

Today, I am able to live in a positive, happier state more often than any other state because I am always doing what I am most passionate about.  I am extremely dedicated to the charities as a company JKFlashy provides assistance to.  In particular helping underprivileged children, whether it is a back pack for ‘back to school’ or Holiday presents needed for a child that may go with out.  Today, I am honored when JKFlashy is asked to be apart of any event clients are celebrating. It is an honor because we have been selected to be apart of a special day for our clients.  I am grateful for all those I work with.  I work besides some of the most talented Artists, Stylists and vendors in the industry.  I am full of gratitude not just today but each and every moment spent doing or planning my chosen work. Today we nationally recognize Gratitude.  I challenge each person to spend more moments being positive, happy and doing what you are most passionate about.  It is when life is lived with this type of meaning deep awareness and gratitude may be found, shared and relished in.
