Can You Answer Duran's 'Who Want to Be a Millionaire' Questions?

Take the challenge Philipse Manor resident Nancy Duran did on shows that aired Tuesday and Wednesday and won her $47,100.

Editor's Note: Here are the questions Philipse Manor resident Nancy Duran got on episodes of "Who Want to Be a Millionaire" that aired on Tuesday and Wednesday and how it all went down, as supplied by show publicist, Trisha Miller:

On Tuesday’s show, Nancy made it up to her fourth question. She continued as a holdover contestant on Wednesday’s show where she started by looking at her fifth question with an accumulated MillionaireBank of $28,000 and two lifelines left (“Ask The Audience” and “Jump The Question” #2).

On Wednesday’s show, Nancy made it all the way up to her $100,000 question! Out of lifelines and unsure of the answer, Nancy decided to not answer the question. Because she was in round #2 of the game, she was able to walk away with her entire accumulated Millionaire Bank, which had risen to $47,100. If she had guessed incorrectly on the $100,000 question, she would have fallen back to $25,000 in winnings.

Nancy successfully navigated her way through round #1 of the game (questions 1-10) and went on to round #2 (questions 11-14) with an accumulated Millionaire Bank of $47,100 and no lifelines left (“Jump The Question” and “Ask The Audience”).

Once a contestant makes it into round #2 of Millionaire (best described as “Classic Millionaire”), they only have four more questions to answer. Unlike the first round of the game, questions in round #2 become progressively more difficult and the monetary value attached to the question is no longer shuffled and hidden. If a contestant decides to not take a guess and walk away from the game in round #2, they are able to take home their entire accumulated Millionaire Bank.  If a contestant incorrectly answers a question in round #2, they fall back to $25,000 in winnings.

$100,000 Question:

In Watertown, Wisconsin, there is a plaque dated 1856 that commemorates America's first what?

A: Golf course

B: Synagogue

C: Kindergarten

Out of lifelines and unsure of the answer, Nancy decided to not answer the question. Because she was in round #2 of the game, she was able to walk away with her entire accumulated Millionaire Bank, which had risen to $47,100. If she had guessed incorrectly on the $100,000 question, she would have fallen back to $25,000 in winnings. The correct answer was “C.”

A big part of the problem is that the teachers' expectations about what supplies are necessary haveRead More become so extreme. When my kids were in school in Tarrytown, we would get a list at the beginning of every school year of the supplies we needed to buy. The parents were asked to buy a separate looseleaf binder for every single class our kids were taking and, for some classes, they asked for a looseleaf AND a spiral notebook. When I was in school, each kid had ONE looseleaf and we separated classes with dividers. Having SIX or seven loose leafs adds to backpack weight and costs a lot of money. My kids supply bills were often close to $100 apiece. The teachers have bought into this idea that all of these supplies are necessary and they are not. I'm not surprised that Staples is offering "rewards programs." Their advertising and marketing efforts have convinced the teachers that you must have a package of 12 red correcting pens, per child.
