Rob Fleder, Editor of the new book, Damn Yankees: A Collection of Essays about the World's Most Loved and Hated Team, will be interviewed by Alex Belth of Bronx Banter Monday evening, in the Reading Room of the at 7pm.
Rob and Alex love to talk sports and especially about the Yankees so there will be plenty of time to ask questions and speak with them about the team after the interview. Rob will sign books for anyone who would like to purchase a copy and the library will serve refreshments.
Adding to the excitement of Rob's visit is that Damn Yankees is reviewed in the New York Times Book Review this Sunday. Jim Bouton author of Ball Four does the review, it is already available online in a link provided below.
"Some of the best writers in the country discuss their relationship with the nation's most iconic team" writes Jim Bouton about Damn Yankees in his New York Times review
For me, the most fascinating aspect of the book is Rob's talent for pulling together an extremely diverse group of writers to contribute essays. From Pete Dexter to Jane Leavy, from Roy Blount Jr. to Colum McCann—each piece focusing on one uniquely colorful subject: the fanatically adored/resoundingly despised “Bronx Bombers.”
Love them or hate them, please join us Monday at 7 pm for what is sure to be a fun evening at the library.
