Mustangs Defeat Older Somers Team

 

On October 5th the Mustangs were visited by the Somers Hurricanes at Pocantico field.  The under age 12 Hurricanes were out matched by the under age 11 Mustangs 6-0.  The Mustangs were playing without Catherine Grimes, Caroline Grimes, and Emma Clarke.  Scoring began with a strike from Talia Fante off an assist from Samantha Livingston.  Talia leads the team in scoring with 6 goals this year and has scored in 3 out of 4 games.  Sophie Sylves-Berry scored next with one of her two goals of the day.  Samantha Nutig assisted her second goal.  Sophie now has 5 goals on the year while also playing goalie.  Samantha Nutig scored the third goal of the game and her first of the year with an assist from Talia Fante.  Maya Weitzen finished scoring with two goals, one off a beautiful assist from Julia Costa.  Julia continues to dominate at goalie as well.  Maya now has 3 goals for the year.  Makayla Williams filled in for Caroline Grimes at midfield and helped at forward in the final period.  The Mustang defense led by Maddy Navin had their third shutout of the year and has only allowed one goal all season.  Sadie Swenson and Annie Dineen continue to excel and Carolina Lopez filled in well for Catherine Grimes. 

The Mustangs were off for Columbus day weekend but held an informal scrimmage with the younger under age 10 boys Tornados and the older under age 12 girls Dominators in a treat for the Tarrytown parents.  The Mustangs came out on top defeating the boys 2-0 and tying the older girls.  The younger boys upset the older Dominators in their match coming in second for the day.

The Mustangs are now 3-0-1 for the year.  They next travel to Ossining to rematch the Rockets on Oct 19th.  Tarrytown won the first match 6-0.

The u9bx team Legends led by Fergus O’Sullivan lost their second game of the year to the Ardsley Spartans Club team 3-4.  They were down 2-0 and mounted a comeback with the clock stopping a potential game tying score.  They are now 1-2-0 and next play the North Salem Tigers at Losee on 10/19.

 

The U10gx team Strikers led by Matt Evans lost their first game of the year to the Mount Pleasant Daredevils 3-4.  They are now 1-1-2.  They next play the Croton Comets in Croton on 10/19.

 

The U10bx team Tornadoes led by Colin Gallagher crushed Mt Pleasant 11-2 at Losee field. They next play the Irvington Bulldogs at Irvington on 10/19.  They are now 4-0-0.

 

The U12gx team Dominators led by Tom Schumacher defeated Ossining 5-0.  They next play Somers at Somers on 10/19.  They are now 3-0-1.

 

The u12bx older Tornadoes led by Gary Fairley defeated the Chappaqua Fire 4-1.  The Tornados also entered a club tournament Columbus day weekend in Scarsdale and left with the trophy after defeating 3 advanced club teams and tying one.  They next play the Croton Orange Crush at Pocantico  on Saturday 10/19.  They are now 4-0-0.
