Mustangs Overcome Hardship and Defeat Older Croton Team

On November 16th the Tarrytown Mustangs defeated the older Croton Superstars 2-1 at Pocantico field.  This was the first time the Mustang girls had faced this Croton team and found themselves down 1-0 early.  Inside sources report that half of the usually stingy Mustang defenders had been up all night at a sleep over party and that fatigue may have been a factor in the early defensive lapse.  After the early score, the Mustangs turned on the offensive pressure when Sam Livingston scored her second goal of the year after perfectly playing a beautiful cross from Emma Clarke.  With the game tied, more adversity set in as more players succumbed to injury and illness.  Although it is Mustang policy not to give injury reports, sources close to the team report there were two bronchial spasms, one nosebleed, one intestinal illness, and one ankle injury.  With the bench looking like a M.A.S.H. unit the Mustangs somehow managed more offense when Talia Fante crossed to Sam Nutig who pressured the Croton defender into scoring on her own goal.  This put the Mustangs up for good and gave Sam Nutig credit for her fourth goal of the year.  The Mustangs hung on for the win and finished the fall season undefeated with seven wins and one tie.  The Tarrytown girls next see action Saturday November 23rd at the Somers' Fall Classic Tournament where they will be defending their 2012 title.  They will be facing a Somers club team, Croton, Ossining, and a top rated Harrison Club team.  They will be underdogs against Harrison and are looking forward to the challenge.
