Anton (Tony) Bischof, Firefighter, Dies at 78

Visitation hours held Wednesday and funeral mass on Thursday for the 40-plus-year member of Consolidated Engine.

The following obituary comes from Coffey Funeral Home:

Anton (Tony) Bischof of Tarrytown died October 7, 2012 at the age of 78. Anton was born July 20, 1934 in the former Yugoslavia to Anton and Elizabeth Bischof. He moved to Austria during World War II. There he met his future wife, Margaret Kempf. He moved to the United States with his family and served in the U.S. Army. He married Margaret on September 14, 1957 in Sleepy Hollow, NY.

He worked for Tensolite Wire for 35 years. He was a member of Consolidated Engine Co. #1 for over 40 years.

Tony will be missed by all. He is survived by Margaret, his wife of 55 years and his children Joseph (Nushi) of Danbury, CT, Anneliese (Mark Galgano), Robert (Maribeth) and Susi Bischof all of Tarrytown. He was loved by his 11 grandchildren: Samuel, Mark, Jr., Nicholas, Christina, Ashley, Melissa, Jennifer, Stephanie, Robert, Jr., Jacqueline and Matthew. He is also survived by his sister Anna Hrebik and several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his parents and his sister Katherine

Visitation will be at Coffey Funeral Home on Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9 PM. His Funeral Mass will be at Transfiguration Church on Thursday at a time to be announced with interment to follow in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Arthritis Foundation would be appreciated.
