Longtime Tarrytown Resident Maria Tumino Dies

Longtime Tarrytown resident Maria Napolitano Tumino, 82, passed away Thursday. A recent resident of Pompano Beach, Florida, Tumino was born to Giovanni and Maria Cilia Occhipinti in Ragusa Sicily.

She came to the U.S. in 1961 and worked for many years at General Motors, eventually retiring in 1976.

Her husband Mario Tumino; son Giorgio Napolitano and his wife Nancy; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren survive Tumino, who was a member of Local 664. She is also survived by her brothers Gino Occhipinti and John Occhipinti, and Mario’s children Salvatore Tumino, Maria Smith and their children.

A reception will be held on Wednesday, May 29 from 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the Coffey Funeral Home, 91 N. Broadway in Tarrytown. The funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 30 at the Immaculate Conception Church, 199 N. Broadway in Sleepy Hollow. Tumino will be laid to rest at the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, 540 N. Broadway.
