Obituary: Joanne DiPaolo Moscarello, 58

Joanne DiPaolo Moscarello—a loving mother, wife and teacher—passed away on July 1 after a long battle with brain cancer.

Moscarello, who passed away at 11:11 at the Rosary Hill Hospice in Hawthorne, was born on Jan. 1 and was “an inspiration to all that knew her,” according to her obituary.

After working as an elementary school teacher at the Hackley School in Tarrytown, Moscarello became a certified teacher of the blind and visually impaired then worked for more than ten years at Pocantico Hills School in Sleepy Hollow as a kindergarten and first grade teacher.

She loved to paint, make clothing and music and to travel. Italy was a beloved place of hers.

“She loved all living things and had the prettiest smile for everyone she met,” her obituary reads.

Moscarello is survived by her husband Paul and children Antonia and Paul; her mother Dolores DiPaolo, brother Gary DiPaolo and her in-laws Joyce and Paul Moscarello.

Visiting takes place at Coffey Funeral Home in Tarrytown on Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The funeral mass will take place on Friday, July 5 at the Church of the Magdalene in Tarrytown at 10:30 p.m. with interment to follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
