Obituary: Mary E. Capossela, 100

Former North Tarrytown and Ossining resident Mary E. Capossela, who lived to 100-year-old, passed away on July 13.

Capossela was born in North Tarrytown on May 18 to John and Anne Hudack as the first of six children, and later lived in Ossining for a period. She helped to care for her younger siblings, was proud of her Slovak heritage and was a parishioner of Holy Cross Parish in Sleepy Hollow.

Capossela—who was known as an amazing cook, mother and grandmother—worked on P.R. Mallory of North Tarrytown’s assembly line.

Her children Robert, John, Bruce and Dennis and her 10 grandchildren survive her. She is predeceased by her husband John Capossela, daughter April Matrician and her siblings Anna Macko, Joseph Macko, Helen Gibson, Florence Juliano and John Macko.

Visiting is from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Coffey Funeral Home in Tarrytown on Wednesday, while the funeral mass is on Thursday at Immaculate Conception Church in Sleepy Hollow at 11 a.m.

Donations, in lieu of flowers, can be made to Rosary Hill Home at 600 Linda Ave. in Hawthorne.
