Robert Lavelle, Lifelong Tarrytown Resident

Visitation for Robert Lavelle will be held Tuesday at Coffey Funeral Home, with funeral held Wednesday at Gate of Heaven Cemetery Chapel.

Robert F. Lavelle, a lifelong Tarrytowns resident, died peacefully at home with his family on March 10, 2013. He was 81.

Mr. Lavelle was born June 2, 1931 in Tarrytown. He married Shirley Roach on June 9, 1956 at St. Joseph’s Church in Yonkers. He worked as a Foreman at General Motors Corp. for 45 years when he retired in 1998. He served honorably in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of UAW Local 664 and the NRA. He was an avid bowler and hunter.

Mr. Lavelle is survived by his wife Shirley of Sleepy Hollow. He is also survived by his son Ricky (Robin) of Yonkers as well as his grandson Anthony, his step grandchildren Stephanie and Dakota, and his beloved dog Noodles. He was predeceased by his son Robert in 1996.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at COFFEY FUNERAL HOME INC. in Tarrytown. His Funeral Mass will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday at Gate of Heaven Cemetery Chapel and the interment follows on the grounds of Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a cancer research charity of your choice.
