Sr. Filipa Cardoso, RSHM, died at Marymount Convent, Tarrytown, NY, September 18, 2013.
Born Teresa Gouveia Cardoso in Portugal on December 11, 1918 to Diamantina Gouveia Cardoso and João Cardoso de Carvallo, she entered the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary in Portugal in 1939.

Sr. Filipa served in Portugal at schools in Guimarães and Porto. After coming to the United States in 1947, she served at Marymount Manhattan College in New York City and at Marymount High School in Tarrytown, NY. Since 2000 she had been living at Marymount Convent, Tarrytown, NY.
She is survived by a nephew and cousins in Portugal, including Sr. Maria Emília Peliz, RSHM.

Services held at Marymount Convent, 32 Warren Avenue, Tarrytown, NY. Visiting Monday, September 23, 3:00 - 7:30 pm, Vigil Service 7:30 pm. Mass of Christian Burial, Tuesday, September 24, 10:30 am. Burial Mount Calvary Cemetery, White Plains. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her name may be made to Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary, 50 Wilson Park Drive, Tarrytown, NY, 10591.
