Feiner: 2014 capital Budget Proposed - Road Repaving, Sanitation Truck that uses 1 Employee Instead of 3, Water Infrastructure

I have submitted the proposed 2014 capital budget to the Greenburgh Town Board. The proposed budget is on the town website: www.greenburghny.com.
Some highlights:

Purchasing a 2nd more efficient refuse sanitation truck that picks up garbage using a hydraulic arm. This vehicle uses one employee instead of three. The first truck should be arriving this year. The town will be able to reduce our personnel costs via attrition and we will be able to increase collection efficiencies.  Cost of the truck: $350,000.

Last year we began to phase in LED lighting. Am recommending that the town appropriate an additional $500,000 for LED lighting which will enable the town to cut costs by using more energy efficient lights. We will be able to also reduce personnel costs via attrition. I anticipate that the LED lighting replacement program will be a 3 year process.

$1.5 million for road repaving. $1.6 million was previously appropriated and not  yet spent so we anticipate spending $3 million this summer/fall for road repaving.
