Castle Hotel & Spa Introduces $11-million THANN Sanctuary Spa

(Tarrytown, NY) – September 2013 – Gilbert Baeriswil, General Manager at Castle Hotel & Spa, has announced the opening of the eagerly awaited 8,700 square-foot luxurious THANN™ Sanctuary Spa following an extensive eight-month construction project.  It is the first of its kind in the United States.

THANN Sanctuary Spas are known throughout Asia as an oasis of peace and tranquility offering a wide variety of luxurious spa treatments based on THANN’s art of natural therapy, where all the senses are awakened by the unique holistic spa concept and ambience.   THANN Spas are located in Thailand, Australia, Finland, Guam, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Mexico, Mongolia, Russia, Singapore, Taiwan, and Vietnam. 

The THANN Sanctuary Spa is designed to be a simple, sophisticated building using a low profile, stone walls and minimal exterior openings to blend with its site.  Guests arrive at the Spa at a motor court drop-off area.  A curved stone wall guides the guest through an opening in the wall into a sheltered interior courtyard.  The Spa walls flanking the courtyard are transparent floor to ceiling glass creating a contrast with the solid stone wall exterior.  The Spa lobby and reception face the courtyard allowing the guest an easy understanding of where to enter the facility. 

The spectacular new Spa features separate locker facilities, women’s relaxation lounge, steam rooms for men and women, seven treatment rooms, and a VIP treatment suite with its own deep tub and private outdoor gazebo.  There is also an expansive relaxation lounge with tranquil views of the wooded grounds.  The atmosphere of quiet and privacy is supported by architectural screening, protected views, and acoustical isolation.  Interior finishes emphasize natural materials, subtle colors, and minimal detail.

The interior design also carefully incorporates warm tones and soothing light with carefully designed furnishings procured from Thailand that induce calm and tranquility. The holistic treatment approach helps rediscover inner physical and mental wellness offered in a wide variety of treatments including the signature massage – a deep-tissue oil massage using palm strokes and thumb pressure to relieve and heal muscular pains.  The THANN signature oil blend conveys healing and reduces tension to reinvigorate and relax stress and tension.

Castle Hotel & Spa features the rich, time-honored ambience of Old-World style and elegance with contemporary amenities and is only 25 miles north of Manhattan.
