moot court competition Thursday sponsored by Greenburgh Town Court

On Thursday, April 10, 3014, the Greenburgh Town Court will present the Honorable Theodore T. Jones Moot Court Competition. The event will be held at the Judicial Institute located on the campus of Pace Law School, 78 North Broadway, White Plains, NY 10603.
This competition will present participating students from the local public and private schools in Greenburgh who have accepted the challenge and commitment to become legal advocates.  They have studied the Fact Pattern, researched and analyzed the relevant cases, wrote legal briefs and are now ready to argue their case as Student Attorneys before a panel of real judges and lawyers.
Although all the schools were invited to participate, those schools who took on the challenge and will be showcasing their talent and skills are Alexander Hamilton High School, Ardsley High School, Hackley School, The Masters School, Maria Regina High School, Solomon Schechter School of Westchester; Woodlands High School and Valhalla High School
The event was named in honor and memory of Honorable Theodore T. Jones, Jr., an outstanding and respected Jurist and member of the legal profession for many years.  Judge Jones served on the NYS Court of Appeals, the highest court in the State of New York, for seven years prior to his untimely and unexpected death in November 2012 at the age of 68 years.  Judge Jones was a compassionate and humble person who had a love for mentoring and assisting young people, law students and members of the legal profession.
The Moot Court Competition will take place the entire day and culminate in the Awards Reception at the end of the Final Round of arguments.  Awards will be presented to the Winning Team, the Runner Up Team and the Outstanding Oral Advocate of the competition.
The event is free of charge and open to the public.  .  PAUL FEINER
