update: fire victim

The Red Cross and Rev Leroy Richards, pastor of 1st Community Church of the Nazarene (2101 Saw Mill river Road, White Plains) have been working very hard trying to help the mother of the 2 year old who lost his life in the recent fire that took place in N Elmsford. The Red Cross arranged to house the family temporarily in a local hotel and to provide limited emergency financial assistance for food and clothing. They also arranged for Jet Blue to fly the family home pro bono.Rev. Leroy Richards, pastor of 1st Community Church of the Nazarene (2101 Saw Mill River Road, White Plains) and the members of his congregation raised $1000 for the victims of the tragic fire in N Elmsford that resulted in the death of a 2 year old boy. The funds were given to the Red Cross. The mother will be flying to Barbados next week. According to Greenburgh.dailyvoice.com a memorial service will be held at noon, Sunday, Nov. 10 at Ballard-Durand Funeral Home for 2-year-old Tazari Mahon, who died in a fire on Sears Avenue last month. According to Elmsford Mayor Robert Williams and Matthew Fiorillo of the funeral home, which is donating its services, the memorial is open to all and the family has said they would welcome the support. Tazari was staying with his mother and family members visiting from Barbados when the fire broke out late on Oct. 19. The boy's body was found in an attic bedroom at 12:30 p.m., Oct. 20. The village of Elmsford, Elmsford Schools, the Town of Greenburgh and other communities and residents contributed clothing and funds to the family after the devastating fire.
