Thursday 11/14: Phelps Hospital Farmers Market at the Park

Winding Down

The Manhattan Chili Co. is back with piping hot bowls of sassy chili. They have been tweaking their recipe to incorporate all the Hudson Valley has to offer and the result is as delicious as it is belly-warming.
True Food has a new HOT spiced chickpea wrap made with organic Yukon gold potatoes and jewel sweet potatoes tucked in a crunchy cilantro slaw. Buy one of their rustic chicken pies to take home and serve with some root vegetables from DoReMe Farm. Buy two and pop one in the freezer. You'll be happy to have it come December after a busy night of holiday shopping. They will also have spiced CHAI.
Samosa Shack is bringing lentil and mint samosas as well as mushroom and tomato.
Pure Food Sisters makes a rockin' vegan stew. Serve it with a parsnip potato mash or with some roasted beets and wilted beet greens.
Wright's has some gorgeous orchard fruit for pie baking.  Spice Revolution has every spice you would ever need for baking or cooking.  This week she has her popular Aleppo pepper and her vegan chocolate. Aleppo is a Turkish spice that's like a cross between cumin and ancho chili.
Raghoo Farms will have plenty of FRESH chicken on hand. Also, if you haven't ordered your turkey yet...he has a few left that you can pick up at the Irvington Farmer's Market the day before Thanksgiving.
It's not too early to start thinking about holiday gifts. Hanukkah is right around the corner, followed by Christmas. Wright's jams make a lovely homespun present - particularly when you buy three! Crown Organic Maple syrup makes a great hostess gift if you're "guesting" at Thanksgiving.  And who wouldn't welcome fabulous baked goods from Rich Brownies or Red Barn Bakery?
Temps are supposed to be in the low to mid 50s so make sure to take a stroll over to the market while you still can!
