A car accident on Route 9W in Upper Grandview early Monday morning left 27-year-old Nyack man Eric Zayas dead.
A 1996 grey BMW, driven by the late Zayas, collided with a Lincoln Town Car on the winding road at about 3 a.m., according to .
"[The BMW] swerved into the northbound lanes, possibly to avoid another vehicle," said Lt. Jim Brown. "[The BMW] then struck a Lincoln Town Car head on."
Zayas was dead when authorities arrived; the driver of the Lincoln, a Haverstraw man in his early-50s, sustained multiple fractures and was transported to , said Raymond Florida, executive director of Rockland Paramedics.
"His injuries are not life-threatening," Florida added.
Orangetown Police are currently at the scene investigating, and could not share further information, said Sgt. James Sullivan.
The accident occurred near Old Mountain Road.
Nyack Ambulance was at the scene following the incident. The Nyack Fire Department was initially called to the scene, as well, but not needed.
Portions of 9W were closed following the accident, but all roadways are now open.
