Sleepy Hollow Police: Bad Costume, Road Spill

A summary of incidents in Sleepy Hollow from Oct. 26 through Nov. 2, 2012

Rear-Ended with Minor Injuries

On Oct. 26 at 2:33 p.m. a 911 call came in for a minor accident on North Broadway with no injuries reported. However, a police officer on the scene requested an ambulance for those involved in the rear-end collision. One driver was disoriented and the other was complaining of back pain. A mutual aide ambulance from Tarrytown responded and transported the driver with back pain to Phelps Memorial Hospital. The second driver refused medical assistance. The cars were moved to parking spaces on Old Broadway and both drivers would be contacting towing companies themselves.

Don't Help Me

On Oct. 27 at 4:25 a.m., officers arrested a person on Cortlandt Street for disorderly conduct with an additional charge of resisting arrest. The officer reported offering assistance to a man who became belligerent and had to be physically subdued.

 

Do Your Homework, Or Else I'll Call the Police

On Oct. 27 at 9:08 p.m. a North Washington street caller reported he was having a problem with his son. Two officers were sent and reported no dispute had occurred. The father said his son didn’t want to do his homework. The Sergeant spoke with the son about “the importance of performing this task,” according to the language of the police report.

 

Miscellaneous Cargo in the Road

On Oct. 28 at 7:44 p.m. a caller reported that a vehicle had lost some of its load, which had fallen into the roadway at Route 9 and Hemlock Drive. Cars driving by were stiking the objects. Officers on scene report finding mechanic tools and miscellaneous items in the road including batteries that were spilling fluids. County Control contacted along with the Rescue 12 for help with clean-up. Officer reported a car with NY plates had damaged a tire hitting the debris. Another car with NJ plates had a rear tire flat as well. The officer assisted one elderly driver in changing his tire.

 

Scary Costume

On Nov. 2 at 7:47 a.m. a caller stated a man wearing a black jacket, blank pants, black backpack, headphones and white stocking over his face was walking in the area of Gordon Avenue. Police reported the high school student was dressed for Halloween and going to school.
