On Nov. 18 at 6:24 a.m. numerous 911 calls came into Sleepy Hollow police headquarters for a car accident at Route 9 and Highland. One car had apparently crossed the double yellow line and struck a second car which then careened into a telephone pole and struck a fence, police said.
Officers and ambulance were dispatched, as well as the fire department due to air bag deployment. The police sergeant requested a unit from Tarrytown PD to assist with traffic control on North Broadway as both lanes were impassable briefly, blocked by vehicles and apparatus.
Spilled fuel on the roadway was cleaned by the fire department. Con Edison was called for the struck pole.
The driver of the first car, Segundo Tenesaca, 23 of Ossining was transported to Phelps Memorial Hospital and arrested by police there for driving while intoxicated (DWI). Possible charges were pending as well for damage to the fence.
The first car was impounded and the second was towed to the owner’s residence. The second driver refused medical attention.
Police report two other DWI arrests reported the same day:
An officer on Nov. 18 reported a traffic stop on Beekman Avenue at 3:55 a.m. and the arrest of Natasha Basalyga, 30 of Peekskill for DWI.
