Crimes Against Halloween

Other than not really having a Halloween on the day itself, the festivities prior went without a glitch, except for one strange scarecrow fatality.

Tarrytown Police received a 911 call for a burning scarecrow on Main Street last week.

Apparently the Village scarecrow decorating the front of 31 Main Street was on fire. It was already extinguished by the time police arrived.

The Tarrytown fire chiefs were notified and responded, determining, in the language of the police report, “the situation did not pose any additional safety concern at this time.”

Officers found no witnesses nearby, but took photographs and filed a case.

Beyond this minor mystery earlier in the week, neither Sleepy Hollow or Tarrytown Police reported any incidents during their weekend parade, block party or hayride festivities.
