A woman was injured when she fell during an evacaution of an EF dorm building, Tarrytown Fire Chief Eugene Gasparre reports.
Tarrytown emergency crews responded to a fire alarm activated at the EF School in Ursula Hall at 100 Marymount Avenue on March 7 at 10:04 p.m. The fire department reported finding smoke on the fourth floor laundry room for which the school evacuated the building.
Gasparre said the fire was contained to the dryer and whatever was in there that started smoking was removed before firefighters got there.
At 10:17 p.m. Gasparre requested an ambulance for a woman who fell during the evacuation and had a laceration on her head. Gasparre reported that the woman was helping a student on crutches get outside but that she slipped on ice. Tarrytown Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported the woman to Phelps Memorial Hospital.
Tarrytown Police reported two other falls on ice with injuries two days later in different locations:
An officer fell on the ice in the rear police department parking lot on March 9 at 7:59 a.m. reporting she hit her head on the asphalt. Tarrytown Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported her to Phelps Memorial Hospital and DPW foreman Scott Weaver was notified to have a truck come salt the lot.
At 10:02 that morning, the DoubleTree hotel requested an ambulance for a woman who fell on the ice and injured her left leg. TVAC transported this woman to Phelps as well.
