Greenwich PD Hires 2 Recruits

Residents from Westchester and Rockland counties are Greenwich's newest police officers.

The ranks of the Greenwich Police Department continue to grow as two new recruits were sworn in April 1.

Hayes C. Sgaglio, a Pound Ridge, NY resident, and Roberto A. Tiburcio of New City, NY, became the newest members of the department in a Greenwich Town Hall ceremony with First Selectman and Police Commissioner Peter Tesei administering the oath of office.

Police Chief James Heavey said both new officers "have a solid education and customer service experience which is essential for this job." The department now has 153 officers — two shy of the authorized strength of 155.

The officers begin six months of training at the Meriden Police Academy on April 4, which will be followed by 12 weeks of field training with senior Greenwich officers, according to Sgt. Deborah Bisceglia of the GPD training division.
