Man Walking on 287 Killed by Truck

Antonio Hernandez, 24, was from Greenwich, CT.

New York State Police are investigating a fatal accident on I-287 Nov. 23 in Harrison.

The incident happened at 5:00 am on westbound Interstate 287, police said.
 
The victim, identified as 24-year-old Antonio Hernandez of Greenwich, CT, was walking westbound in the right lane of the highway when he was struck by a 2012 International tractor trailer being operated by a 51-year-old resident of Barnegate, NJ. 

According to police, the truck driver immediately stopped; state police and emergency services personnel were dispatched to the scene; and the victim was transported to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla where he was pronounced dead. 

State police are investigating why Hernandez was on the Interstate. No parked or disabled vehicles were found in the vicinity of the accident. 

They are asking any witnesses who may have seen Hernandez prior to the accident to contact investigators at 914-769-2600.
