A pit bull has been deemed dangerous after it attacked and killed another dog in the Crest neighborhood of Tarrytown this afternoon.
The pit bull apparently escaped from its home and attacked a Yorkshire Terrier in the area of Union Avenue and Kerwin Place. The Terrier did not survive the mauling.
The initial report of the incident came in around 11:59 a.m. About 40 minutes later, the animal was captured by members of Greenburgh's animal control unit in the area of Heritage Court, south of Benedict Avenue.
The pit bull was taken to the New Rochelle Humane Society. It has been deemed dangerous. The fate of the dog will be handled by the civil court in Tarrytown.
