Missing Bike, From Winter, With Flat Tires
Caller reported he was unable to locate his bicycle, which had been tied to a meter at the soometime over the winter, and had two flat tires. It was a 20-inch silver Dynamo with black seat and rims. The lock had been removed from the bike and was found lying on the ground. Caller advised to ask at Y to see if they removed bike.
Men with Rifle Around Lakes
A woman came to headquarters on May 24 at 11:55 a.m. saying she just saw two men with a rifle around the Tarrytown Lakes. Police located the men who did have an air rifle and were advised of the Village code against it. They left the area.
Sunnyside Sign Stolen
A sign was stolen from Restoration, valued at $1,350 and displaying the hours of operation of the site.
DWI, Dispute
Also on May 24 at 6:34 p.m., there was a dispute reported at the Bridge Plaza Shopping Center. An ambulance was requested for one man who had a cut over his right eye. Police report that the man became verbally abusive, using obscene language towards the officers interviewed him. He appeared to be intoxicated and officers arrested him for DWI. An officer accompanied Tarrytown Volunteer Ambulance Corps as they brought him to Westchester County Medical Center.
Back at headquarters, the defendant refused to consent to a sobriety test. A license check revealed he had a suspended driver's license in New York from a prior DWI; he had been convicted of a DWI within the last 10 years. Jeffery A. Sweetnam, 25, was processed for DWI (a felony), aggrevated unlicensed operation under the influence, operating a vehicle without a license, and disorderly conduct. Sweetnam as arraigned with bail set at $5,000 cash and taken to Westchester County Jail.
Some Outdoor Lefteris Left Damaged
Criminal mischief reported by ' manager on May 26 at 12:26 p.m. included: damage to a marble table, to the outside flower pot border, and to four flower pots. Videotape surveillance was available, which the officer watched. Case filed.
Child on Bike Struck by Car, Cut on Head
An emergency 911 call came in from Hawthorne Police on May 28 at 2:13 p.m. reporting that a child had been struck by a car on Crest Drive. A 9-year-old on a bicycle was hit by a car with New York plates, the child sustaining a cut on the head and requiring transport by TVAC to Westchester Medical Center.
Tarrytown Police Lieutenant William Herguth reported that the car was going one way along a sharp curve on lower Crest Drive, while the cyclist was going the other. The car struck the child, throwing the child off the bike and into the windshield. The car had to be towed from scene because of the broken windshield. The driver wasn't charged as the curve was blind and it was considered an accident.
Accident report filed and the kid's bike was secured in headquarters.
Two-Car Accident With Head Contusion
Police were requested at the scene of two-car accident on Wildey Street on May 29 at 11:04 p.m. TVAC transported one woman to for suffering a blow to her head. Accident report filed.
Collapse on Treadmill, Sick Resident at Y
The YMCA had two back-to-back emergency calls on May 30. In the first, an ambulance was needed for an older man who collapsed while on the treadmill. He was conscious and moving his digits, reported one witness who knew the man as a regular in the Y fitness room. He was transported to Phelps just after 12:30 p.m. Then, another call came requesting an ambulance for a resident of the Y who was feeling ill around 1:30 p.m.
Large Noisy Group of EF Students
An officer attempted to disperse a “large noisy group of EF students” from in front of the around 1:30 a.m. on May 31. One student, 20, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Defendant was processed and released on a $100 cash bail with a return court date of June 13.
