Police Botch Boyfriend's Christmas Surprise

It was the boyfriend who was ultimately surprised by his attempt to hide presents for his Tarrytown girlfriend.

At 12:49 a.m. Christmas morning, a resident called police saying she had secured her apartment at 5 p.m. on Christmas eve. When she returned now she found the front door unlocked and felt someone may have entered the home.

Tarrytown Police when they arrived said they heard a noise from inside. When the sergeant opened the door he was approached by a man whom he apprehended.

The man said that he was the boyfriend of the woman and was hiding in the house to surprise her with Christmas gifts.

His story checked out, Lt. Herguth said, though certainly the surprise was dampened.
