Police: Illegal Gambling Stopped in Sleepy Hollow

Sleepy Hollow Police found and confiscated an illegal gambling machine at Tappan Zee Deli on 185 Valley Street on September 7.

A caller reported to police at 9:05 p.m. that a fight was going on in front of the store. Police found no fight when they arrived but said they talked to two intoxicated men who were arguing over money.

The men didn't want to press any charges and were sent on their way.

Police checked the store where the men said they bought and drank beer. There police said they found an illegal gambling machine inside, about the size of an ATM, and arrested the 54-year-old Sleepy Hollow man who owns the store for possession of the machine.

The gambling machine was taken to headquarters by a towing company representative.

Note: An arrest does not indicate a conviction.
