Police Investigate Felony Theft From Tarrytown Bank Counter

A woman reported to Tarrytown police on Dec. 26 the theft of money off a counter inside the bank she was in at 303 South Broadway.

The caller told  police she was inside the M&T Bank to make a deposit around 10:30 a.m. While inside, she placed an envelope with $1,100 on the deposit ticket desk and then walked over to the teller counter.

As she returned to the deposit desk she noticed a white male (described as 5'10" wearing a blue shirt, blue jacket, dark pants and with a goatee), walking away from the desk. She immediately realized her money was missing and stopped the man outside the bank's doorway.

The man denied taking the money and then left on foot eastbound toward the parking lot.

The woman said she reentered the bank thinking she may have misplaced the money.

After following up inside the bank, she called police, who are still investigating.
