Yan Carlos Abreu, 21, of Sleepy Hollow, was charged with attempted assault in the second degree, resisting arrest, assault in the third degree, and endangering the welfare of children after a domestic dispute reported at 5:07 p.m. Friday night.
Sleepy Hollow Police Lieutenant Anthony Bueti said Abreu was apparently in a fight with his mother, which was “pretty bad,” and then when police came to arrest him he “tried to menace officers with a knife.”
Bueti believed officers had to taze Abreu to subdue him enough to complete the arrest. Children were reported as present during all of this alleged knife-brandishing and assault, thus the additional charge of endangerment.
Abreu was sent to County Jail on $15,000 bond or $10,000 cash with an upcoming court date.
