The man on Sunday by State Police had severely beaten his wife the day prior, according to a report on LoHud today.
On Wednesday, New Rochelle police arrested Thomas Porzio, 55, of New Rochelle, and charged him with second-degree attempted murder, Captain Joseph Schaller told LoHud. Thursday morning he appeared in New Rochelle City Court and was held on $250,000 bail.
Patch was at the Tarrytown waterfront with emergency crews on Sunday, who watched from afar as State Police negotiated with the man for nearly an hour from his perch on scaffolding just below the bridge. Once he was pulled up and taken into custody, Porzio was then brought to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla.
Schaller told LoHud that once “the hospital was through with him, we picked him up,” for beating his 54-year-old wife with a 5-pound barbell. He was apparently intoxicated during a fight that spilled into the road outside their home. The wife received injuries that resulted in a hospital stay including “multiple facial fractures, a cut to the top of her head and bruising,” said the LoHud report.
