Tarrytown Police came upon an elderly man locked in his own car, alarm sounding, at the train station, marking the end of a long, accidental journey.
The man, who his wife later described to police as suffering from the early stages of dementia, had left his house in Massachusetts on Sept. 29 at 6 p.m. and had never returned home. It was 2:10 a.m. on Sept. 30 when police found the man here in Tarrytown.
Officers said the man was confused and thought he was in Brooklyn. They were able to contact the man's wife, who told them she had contacted Ludlow, MA police. Tarrytown Police in turn contacted Ludlow authorities to notify them that the man had been found.
Tarrytown Volunteer Ambulance Corps came to make sure he was okay but the man refused medical attention. His wife told police that she and her daughter would be coming to collect him.
At 5:30 a.m., the women arrived in Tarrytown to bring him back home.
