Police: Sleepy Hollow Man Injures Police Officer

Police chased Zhinin after a citizen reported him breaking into cars early one morning on Francis Street.

Thirty-two-year-old Sleepy Hollow resident Edison Zhinin was arrested on felony assault charges in the village after injuring an officer, police report.

A caller reported to police on August 17 at 4:27 a.m. that there was a suspicious man in a car parked on the street. Officers, upon their arrival, said they saw the man fleeing on foot.

Police chased and caught the man just a few doors down. He allegedly had broken into the car and stolen items.

Zhinin put up a fight while police attempted to arrest him, injuring an officer in the process, Police Chief Gregory Camp said. The officer was treated at Phelps Memorial Hospital, suffering pain and cuts, with scrapes to his hands, arms and legs.
