An 18-year-old Sleepy Hollow resident who told police he was sleepy drove off North Broadway, hitting a pole on August 19 at 2:45 a.m.

Police on the scene requested ambulance, towing and the fire department as well as contacting Con Edison about the pole struck. The fire department was dispatched at 2:51 a.m. for airbag deployment and possible fluids leaking from the car.

The man was going southbound down Route 9 when he hit a pole near Bellwood Avenue. The pole was cracked with no wires down at the time.

The man told police he had briefly shut his eyes before crashing. He transported to Westchester Medical Center at 3:21 a.m. for precautionary measures, said Police Chief Gregory Camp. The man had no visible injuries or complaints of pain and Camp said there was no drugs or alcohol involved either.
