Police: Teen Hits Utility Pole on Halloween

A 16-year-old was brought to the hospital after he hit a utility pole in the Manor.

Police report they received multiple calls on Oct. 31 around 3:30 p.m. for a car that had collided with a telephone pole on Merlin Avenue. 

All police units along with the fire department, ambulance, Con Edison and towing arrived at the scene. 

Con Ed dealt with the electrical emergency since the pole had been knocked down, wires were down and power was out in the area. 

The driver was taken to Phelps Memorial Hospital with complaints of pain. He was with one passenger.

Police Chief Gregory Camp said he was brought to the hospital for precautionary measures. 

Traffic to the area off Bellwood was diverted until area was cleared around 9 p.m.
