Some residents in the usually sedate Philipse Manor neighborhood were startled by police activity on late Monday afternoon resulting in someone being taken away on a stretcher by ambulance.
Sleepy Hollow Police Lieutenant Anthony Bueti was among the emergency responders to the call that there were two teens passed out on a residential lawn at the corner of Munroe and Palmer at 5:15 p.m.
“The kids appeared to be very intoxicated and I guess they just decided to take a nap,” Bueti said.
When police stirred the teens, Bueti said one of them did not respond well. “One kid was very cooperative and sat in a corner, but the other became belligerent and agitated and was flailing his arms,” Bueti said. There ensued a small scuffle with an officer, Bueti said, who was able to subdue the teen “with a small amount of force” and make an arrest for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
Though no one was hurt in the scuffle, the police decided to get the pair looked at Phelps Memorial Hospital as, said Bueti, a “precautionary measure to ensure other substances weren't in their system.” Both teens were treated there and released.
After a short investigation, police determined the drunken nappers were both 17 and from Ossining. Their parents were notified.
